Traveling has been Farshid’s one of the main interests, which have been made with the purpose of obtaining new experiencing from different cultures (see “Travel Experiences” for more information). For example, experiencing new destinations and their cultures through new restaurants, foods, and handicrafts are important parts of his hobbies. In addition, sport (football, Ping-Pong, bicycling, running, chess, and athletic exercises), theater, cinema, music, and studying particularly in the field of tourism and hotel are among his other interests and hobbies.
He has been active in practice in some of them. For example, in the companies where he has acted as a manager, he has launched sports teams so as to boost employees’ morale in the workplace. Cultural and artistic activities are also attractive for Farshid and he has made an effort to link art and tourism to each other. This interest is manifested in the production of educational documentary films in the area of tourism and hotel, while he was a theater actor in the past.
Professionally, Farshid started obtaining new practical experiences soon after his entry to university in order to increase his learning by practice. He believes in perfect competition and team-working and he is of the opinion that the success of every company is dependent on collective activities and efforts. Also, he devotes himself to sharing his working and academic tourism-related ideas and experiences and thus, he acts as a teacher and consultant in different institutes, universities, and projects.
Entrepreneurship and in particular, social entrepreneurship are of his salient interests about which he has continuous activities. Apart from practical areas, he is involved in academic research and learning up-to-date concepts as well, leading to authorship in several books and articles about the tourism and hotel industry.
