Farshid Karimi

Farshid Karimi was born in Tehran in Nowruz (It marks the beginning of spring and the first month of the Iranian calendar) 1983. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Hotel Management (2008, Tehran) and Tourism Management (2014, Kish), respectively. Also, with a dissertation entitled “social entrepreneurship in the tourism industry: an educational approach” he completed his PhD in Education Management in early 2020 (Tehran). Farshid started acting in operational frontline positions as a waiter/attendant in a one-star hotel, coffee shop, train, and as a tour guide, respectively shortly afterward he began to study at the bachelor’s level. He later gained more experiences as a trainee in Laleh and Esteghlal five-star hotels in Tehran. He gradually made steady progress such that after 10 years since his first operational position in the hotel industry, he was selected as the general director and board member in Arian Parseh Kish Company (owner of 5-star Shaygan Hotel, Kish, 2014-2020) and stayed in the position for six years. Of his other positions included expert of the education department, manager of the public relations and advertisement department, customer support manager, manager of the department of education and human resource development, and assessor of service quality, equipment and human resources of Iran’s different hotels. Farshid Karimi has been active since 2017, when he launched a holding company called Amu nowruz, as the founder and CEO of this tourism group with subsidiaries such as Amu nowruz Travel Company, Amu nowruz Mohajer, Health Tourism, and a specialized educational institute for hotel management and tourism. He is known as the originator of many innovative projects in the tourism and hotel industry until now.

Farshid started teaching tourism- and hotel-related courses at universities and educational institutes in 2011. He founded Zarin Kish Vocational Institute in 2014 and was appointed as its manager for a period of five years. His different notes and articles have been published in domestic journals and newspapers while his co-authors and he have also compiled two books. “A Travel Guide of Iran” written in English is one of these two books. another book in the name “A Travel Guide of Tehran” written in English and Persian has been in press and would be published soon. Of Farshid’s other experiences and initiatives include producing training films and documentaries in the field of hotel, launching some international conferences in Iran and United Arab Emirates and Turkey, numerous domestic and foreign travels to visit tourism exhibitions and attend educational courses/workshops, and tourism social entrepreneurship. The secretary of the second international conference of hospitality management in the third millennium, which will be held on October 4 of this year on Kish Island, is one of him important activities in the hotel and tourism industry.
